For years, Android has had a Touch Sensitivity feature baked into the operating system. Some people have referred to this as Glove Mode, since it helps the screen detect your touch inputs when you’re wearing a glove. Newer versions of Android have renamed this to Screen Protector Mode since it helps those who have installed a glass or plastic protector on their display.
Either way, you can find this on most devices sold by various OEMs on the market.
Just be aware that some companies label this feature differently. So while Google Pixel devices will have this feature called Screen Protector Mode, Samsung Galaxy devices will simply have it labeled Touch Sensitivity. Then there are other companies who have chosen to remove the feature entirely (for some reason or another). But in most cases, there will almost always be a way to enable this on Android.
Enabling Touch Sensitivity on Google Pixel Phones
- Launch the Settings application.
- Scroll down and then select the Display & Touch menu.
- Scroll down again and tap on the Touch Sensitivity option.
- And then enable the toggle for Screen Protector Mode.
It doesn’t matter if you enable this feature before or after you install your screen protector. This is also a great feature to enable if you frequently use your smartphone or table with gloves or a pair of mittens. However, if they are too thick then the display will have difficulty even knowing you’re touching it. And that will be the case whether you have this feature enabled or not.
Touch Sensitivity on Samsung Galaxy Devices
- Open the Settings app.
- Find and then tap on the Display option.
- Then locate the Touch Sensitivity toggle.
- So you can tap the toggle and enable the feature.
If you have a really old Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet then this feature may be labeled Glove Mode. The last few versions of Android have renamed this to Touch Sensitivity. But you should be able to find it within the Display section no matter what the feature is listed as.
Where is the Touch Sensitivity Feature on HyperOS?
When I began looking for this feature on my Redmi Note 13 Pro, I was unable to find it. That phone has HyperOS as the firmware so it seems that Xiaomi has decided to not include it within their software. I’m not sure why this is the case and I was unable to find an alternative way of enabling the feature. I suspect this can be done with an ADB command but I have been unable to figure this out at this time.
It’s possible that the feature is limited to more of Xiaomi’s high-end smartphones.
Which would make sense if it requires a certain piece of hardware. You could try and search for the word “sensitivity” within the Settings application in an attempt to find this toggle. If that doesn’t locate the feature, though, then your Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO phone does not support it.
Android Screen Protector Mode
I know a lot of people will only purchase screen protectors from certain vendors due to touch input issues. So enabling Screen Protector Mode or Touch Sensitivity could help to save you some money since you wouldn’t need to buy an expensive display protector. And don’t forget, this feature can help to improve touch input detection on Android when wearing gloves.
